You’re studying the iPad screen, very aware of the clock. This is your first timed game of PolyWords and you really want to earn your Ninja belt Achievement.

As the seconds tick by, you turn your iPad from portrait to landscape to get a different view of the letters laid out in the polygon. You can only use each letter once (except for the center one), so you want to make it good, come up with the best words you can, as fast as you can.

The longer words score higher, so you rack your brain and do a couple of quick checks with Wiktionary®. Before long, you’ve think you’ve come up with a pretty impressive list of words with high letter and word scores. One last peek into the Trophy Room to get an idea of what you still might need to find. Oops, not done yet. You must hurry, the clock is ticking and soon to run out!

Your vocabulary and word game skills are going to soar, the more you play PolyWords. This app provides a fun way to increase your mental agility and Brainiac status by challenging you to make words from the letters shown to you inside of the polygon. Don’t forget – the center letter has to be in every word you form. The longer the words you come up with, the better and higher your score will be.

You get to select which word sets you use. Pick from three different versions of Scrabble® (US English, International English and French) or the Words With Friends word list. Definition lookup is through the Wiktionary database, by simply touching the word in the found word list, or from all possible words at the end of a game.

Need a different perspective for inspiration? Rearrange your letters by moving them around on the puzzle polygon or rotate your iPad to see your letters from a fresh point of view. Don’t worry if your game gets interrupted. You can save it and finish it up when you return.

When you play PolyWords, you get to choose whether you’ll engage in a leisurely relaxed game without the timer, or really challenge your brain with timed play. When you play against the clock, you’ll be giving your grey matter a big workout. You’ll also earn double points if you keep the counter above zero by finding words fast and adding time to the clock.
